Job Summary:
The Wildlife Landscape Planner is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to conserve and restore wildlife habitats within agricultural and environmental landscapes. This role involves analyzing data, collaborating with stakeholders, and designing sustainable landscape management practices to support wildlife conservation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of wildlife habitats, considering factors such as biodiversity, species requirements, and ecosystem dynamics.
2. Analyze and interpret ecological data to inform landscape planning decisions and identify key areas for wildlife conservation and restoration.
3. Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and government agencies to develop and implement landscape management plans that support wildlife conservation goals.
4. Design and propose site-specific measures to protect and enhance wildlife habitats, incorporating ecological principles and best practices.
5. Assess the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed landscape management strategies through data analysis, modeling, and monitoring.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with landowners, farmers, and community stakeholders to promote wildlife-friendly practices and secure land for conservation initiatives.
7. Provide expertise and guidance on wildlife habitat creation, restoration, and enhancement techniques.
8. Stay updated on relevant research, legislation, and industry trends related to wildlife conservation and landscape planning.
9. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate project progress, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
10. Support educational and outreach activities to raise awareness of wildlife conservation and promote sustainable land management practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Wildlife Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in landscape planning, preferably in wildlife conservation or habitat restoration projects.
3. In-depth knowledge of wildlife ecology, habitat requirements, and conservation principles.
4. Strong analytical skills to interpret ecological data and develop evidence-based landscape management plans.
5. Familiarity with GIS software and other relevant tools for spatial analysis and mapping.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including landowners, researchers, government agencies, and community members.
7. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
8. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills to address complex ecological challenges.
9. Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations related to wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
